In December the weather in Cyprus is mild winter weather. There are both sunny days and rainy/cloudy days. About half the the days are dry and sunny with a daytime temperature of about 15-25 °C near the coast. Periods of disturbed weather can last from one to three days in a row.
December is the time to experience the unique climate of Cyprus. In a less than 80 km drive you can go from the sunny coasts to the snow covered mountains of Troodos.

2. Cyprus temperature in December
At the coasts of Cyprus the temperature is 15-25 °C at daytime and it drops to 5-15 °C at night. The weather at Troodos mountains is a bit colder with temperatures of 5-20°C at daytime and -5 to 10 °C at night with a bit of snowing. The sun sets at 17:00.
3. What to wear in December
Recommended clothes are winter clothes, warm jackets but not heavy coats. December is the wettest month in Cyprus so remember to take an umbrella with you whenever you go out.You will mostly use your summer clothes. At day time you will probably wear shorts, t-shirt, swimming suit etc. You should also have a sweater and a pair of pants for the night or in case the weather turns a bit cooler than normal.

4. Sleeping at night
For sleeping you will probably need heating. Sheets and blankets as well.
5. Going to the beach
A visit to the beach and sunbathing is possible if you are lucky to have one those clear and sunny day. Seawater is not warm but it is not unusual to see people swimming. Each coastal two has at least one place where the local enjoy their winter swimming. It is nice to visit that beach since it also has a lifeguard on duty. Water parks are closed on December.
The sea water temperature depends on your destination. In the south coasts of Limassol, Larnaca and Ayia Napa the waters are shallower and warmer with temperatures of 24-26 °C in October. The west cost of Paphos and northern coasts of Latchi have colder waters with temperatures of 22-24 °C in October.

December weather that is sunny but not hot makes this month ideal to see the cultural and historic sites. Outdoor activities, excursions and day trips to explore the island are very enjoyable. There are several cultural events throughout December as well.
